We are pleased to announce that, thanks to a very generous donation from a parent's employer, we now have a fleet of laptops at our disposal. Children wishing to attend code club will no longer be required to own a Raspberry Pi kit and bring it to the club. However, we do still strongly recommend that our members purchase one so they can continue with their programming at home. They really are an amazingly cheap and accessible way to get into programming.
This is a massive step forward from the early days where we had to set up and put away an entire classroom full of monitors, keyboards and mice every week. This was both time consuming and exhausting work as it involved carrying three two-man boxes of equipment across the playground and up two flights of stairs.
We hope the relative simplicity of the new setup will make for a more enjoyable and productive environment for everyone involved.
